Having grown up 80 miles west of the Beer Capitol of the World, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and attending the University of Wisconsin, maybe the first “wet” campus in the country, in the early 60’s, , beer was an important part of the culture! 

With Fraternity Beer Suppers every Friday night and beer flowing in The Student Union,  total beer consumption may have exceeded  drinking water.

To survive, I am told we can only go 7 days without water.  The survival period without a beer was much shorter

One night at Cheers, Cliff Clavin said to his buddy, Norm Peterson:

Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells.  But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.  In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine!  That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers.”
